ManyChat Alternatives (2026): 5 Options Compared by Channel and Price

This page has no affiliate links right now: every link goes straight to the vendor. How we make money.

ManyChat automates replies to Instagram comments, DMs and other chat apps. It’s free for 25 contacts and paid plans start at $14/mo billed yearly. Here are five ManyChat alternatives, sorted by where your customers actually message you.

The short answer

For website chat plus social messages, try Tidio (free plan; $24.17/mo billed yearly). For WhatsApp-heavy teams, look at respond.io ($79/mo yearly). SleekFlow ($49/mo yearly) includes every chat channel on its entry plan. If you really need a help desk, choose Help Scout or Zendesk.

ManyChat in one paragraph

A chat automation tool sends automatic replies and step-by-step message flows in apps like Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, so you can answer questions and collect leads without typing every reply. ManyChat does this mainly for creators, marketers and small shops. It prices by active contacts: the people your account messaged that month. AI-powered conversations start on Pro, and WhatsApp needs Pro or higher.

Why people look for a ManyChat alternative

  • Cost grows with your audience. Every contact above your plan’s limit is billed, so a post that goes viral can raise the bill.
  • Channels are rationed. Free and Essential allow 2 channels and Pro allows 3. All channels, including WhatsApp, SMS and email together, need Business ($69/mo billed yearly).
  • It isn’t a help desk. There’s no ticketing or help center, so order problems and refunds often end up in a separate tool.
  • No website-first chat. If most questions start on your website or store, a live chat tool may fit better.

None of this makes ManyChat a poor choice. For Instagram comment-to-DM campaigns, broadcasts and lead capture, it is cheap to start and built for exactly that job.

How we chose

We picked tools that do at least one of ManyChat’s core jobs, answering customers in chat apps, and read each pricing page on October 22, 2026 from a US connection. We compared published prices, channels, pricing models and AI features only. We haven’t tested these tools hands-on yet, so we don’t claim any of them converts or answers better than ManyChat.

Other names that come up in searches, such as Chatfuel, WATI, Landbot and Gorgias, aren’t covered here. WATI’s and Gorgias’s pricing pages didn’t show base plan prices when we checked, and Landbot showed euros only.

How to choose in three steps

  1. Find where messages come from. Look at last month. Mostly Instagram comments and DMs? ManyChat is hard to beat on price. Mostly website chat? Try Tidio. Mostly WhatsApp? Compare respond.io and SleekFlow.
  2. Decide if you need tickets. If customers email about orders, refunds or bugs, you need a help desk such as Help Scout or Zendesk, either instead of or alongside a DM tool.
  3. Price it on your volume. Contact-based tools (ManyChat, respond.io, SleekFlow) get pricier as your audience grows. Seat-based tools (Help Scout, Zendesk) get pricier as your team grows. Add AI fees on top: Tidio’s Lyro add-on, Help Scout’s $0.75 and Zendesk’s $2.00 per AI resolution.

Most of these tools offer a free plan or a 7–15 day trial, so connect one real channel and run it for a week before you switch.

When to stay with ManyChat

  • Your main goal is turning Instagram comments, Story mentions and DMs into leads or sales.
  • You send broadcasts and follow-up sequences, not support tickets.
  • Your audience is small: 250 contacts for $14/mo billed yearly is cheaper than the entry plan of every alternative here except the free plans.

FAQ

What is the best ManyChat alternative?

It depends on where your customers talk to you. For website chat plus social messages, Tidio is the closest fit and has a free plan. For WhatsApp-heavy teams, respond.io is built around a shared chat inbox. For every chat channel on the entry plan, SleekFlow starts at $49/mo billed yearly. We haven’t tested these tools hands-on; this is based on published plans checked October 22, 2026.

Is there a free alternative to ManyChat?

Yes. Tidio has a free plan with 50 billable conversations and 10 seats, covering live chat, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and email. Help Scout has a free plan for 5 users and 100 contacts a month. ManyChat itself also has a free plan for 25 active contacts on 2 channels.

How much does ManyChat cost?

ManyChat is free for up to 25 active contacts. Paid plans shown on its pricing page are Essential at $14/mo ($168 billed yearly), Pro at $29/mo ($348), Business at $69/mo ($828) and Advanced at $139/mo ($1,668). Extra contacts above your plan’s limit are charged per contact, and prices exclude tax.

Is ManyChat good for customer service?

It works for answering common questions in Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp DMs, and Business and up include a shared inbox. It has no ticketing or help center, so teams that handle email, refunds or order issues usually add a help desk such as Help Scout, Zendesk or Tidio.

Which ManyChat alternative is best for WhatsApp?

respond.io and SleekFlow both put WhatsApp at the center and include it on every plan, at $79/mo and $49/mo billed yearly. Tidio also includes WhatsApp on all plans, including Free. On ManyChat, WhatsApp needs Pro or higher. respond.io and SleekFlow both say Meta’s WhatsApp message fees are charged on top of the plan.

What is an active contact?

An active contact is a person your chat tool talked to during the billing month. ManyChat, respond.io and SleekFlow all price partly on these contacts, so a viral post that brings in thousands of DMs can push you into a higher tier. Tidio counts conversations your team answers instead, and Help Scout and Zendesk mostly charge per user or agent.
