Frase Alternatives (2026): 5 Options, Picked by What You Need Instead
This page has no affiliate links right now: every link goes straight to the vendor. If that changes, we’ll say so here. How we make money.
Frase is an SEO content tool: it builds a research brief from the pages that already rank, helps you draft the article, scores it, and tracks whether AI answers mention your site. These Frase alternatives cover the same job, or the jobs around it, in different ways.
The short answer
To score drafts against top results, try Surfer SEO ($49/mo yearly). For rank tracking and audits too, SE Ranking ($129/mo). For a full SEO suite, Semrush ($139/mo). For AI articles plus AI answer tracking, Writesonic ($79/mo yearly). For on-brand marketing copy, Jasper.
Why do people look for a Frase alternative?
Frase’s entry price is lower than most tools in this guide, so the price of Starter is rarely the reason to leave. They leave over limits, or because they need a different kind of tool. On October 19, 2026, Frase’s pricing page showed:
- Small Starter limits. Starter ($49/mo, or $39/mo yearly) covers 1 seat, 1 site, 10 articles and 50 audit pages a month. (Full plan list: Frase pricing and review.)
- AI platforms unlock by plan. Starter tracks ChatGPT and Google AI. Perplexity is added on Professional ($129/mo) and Claude and Gemini on Scale ($299/mo).
- It isn’t a full SEO suite. Frase helps you plan and write pages. It doesn’t replace a rank tracker or a backlink database, so many sites pay for a second tool.
- More people cost more. Starter has 1 seat; extra seats on Professional and Scale are $29/mo each.

How did we choose these alternatives?
We started from the jobs people use Frase for: scoring content, tracking rankings, SEO research, AI writing and AI answer tracking. For each job we picked one tool we already cover and read its US pricing page on October 19, 2026. We haven’t tested these tools hands-on yet, so we don’t claim any of them is better than Frase, only that it covers that need in a different way or for a different price. How we review tools.
We haven’t covered Clearscope, MarketMuse, NeuronWriter or Search Atlas yet. We’ll add them once we’ve checked their plans the same way.

How to choose a Frase alternative
Pick by the job you actually pay Frase for.
- You mostly optimize drafts: Surfer SEO. Read our Surfer SEO vs Frase comparison for plan-by-plan details, or Surfer SEO alternatives if Surfer’s yearly billing puts you off.
- You also need rankings and site audits: SE Ranking. One account covers rank tracking, audits and content.
- You need keyword and competitor data: Semrush. Compare it with cheaper suites in Semrush alternatives.
- You care about AI answers (GEO): Writesonic, or a tracker such as Otterly.ai ($29/mo for 15 prompts). GEO, or generative engine optimization, means getting your brand mentioned in answers from ChatGPT and Google’s AI. See the best AEO tools.
- You write marketing copy more than blog posts: Jasper.

When should you stay with Frase?
Stay if you publish up to about 10 articles a month on one site and want briefs, drafts and ChatGPT and Google AI tracking for $39–49/mo. If you outgrow Starter, Professional ($129/mo, or $103/mo yearly) adds 3 seats, 5 sites, 40 articles and Perplexity tracking. That costs the same as SE Ranking Core month to month, so compare the two before you upgrade.
