What does Frase do?

Frase is an SEO and GEO (generative engine optimization) content platform: it researches topics, writes and optimizes articles for Google rankings and AI answer citations, publishes them, and tracks where AI assistants cite your site. Pricing: Starter $49/mo ($39/mo billed yearly), Professional $129/mo ($103/mo yearly), Scale $299/mo ($239/mo yearly); Enterprise is custom-priced. There's a 7-day free trial with no credit card.

  • SEO research and topic clusters. Researches a topic, groups related keywords into topic clusters and turns the findings into a content brief.
  • AI Agent with Brand Voice. Drafts articles from your brand context so they keep a consistent voice. You can let the agent publish on its own or keep a review step.
  • Content and GEO optimization. Gives each page an SEO score and a GEO score and suggests changes for Google rankings and AI citations.
  • AI Visibility. Tracks where AI assistants cite your site: ChatGPT and Google AI on Starter, plus Perplexity on Professional, plus Claude and Gemini on Scale. It monitors and alerts; it doesn't change your content.
  • Site audit. Audits your pages for content gaps. Monthly audit pages: 50 on Starter, 250 on Professional, 1,000 on Scale.
  • Content Guard. Watches published pages, and when one loses Google rank or traffic it drafts a fix and republishes after your approval (auto-apply for low-risk fixes is opt-in). Covers 10, 75 or 300 pages by plan.
  • Publishing and FraseCMS. Publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity and Wix, or hosts content on FraseCMS. The FraseCMS Free tier ($0, 100,000 page views a month) comes with any plan; Basic ($19/mo) and Pro ($99/mo) are paid add-ons.
  • Use Frase in your AI tools. Frase's homepage says an MCP server, CLI and API are available on every plan, for use from tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor. Enterprise adds custom API access.
  • Professional and Scale extras. Professional adds a content calendar, internal linking suggestions, repurposing for other channels and AI crawler monitoring. Scale adds exportable client reports and lets the agent run across every site you manage.

Does Frase have a free plan or free trial?

There's no free plan for the software. The 7-day free trial gives you Professional's feature set with no credit card, capped at 5 articles, 50 audit pages, 25 AI prompts and 3 seats. FraseCMS hosting has a free tier.

What is the difference between Frase Starter and Professional?

Starter ($49/mo) is 1 seat, 1 site, 10 articles and 50 audit pages a month, with AI visibility on ChatGPT and Google AI. Professional ($129/mo) is 3 seats, 5 sites, 40 articles and 250 audit pages, adds Perplexity tracking, internal linking suggestions, a content calendar and optional pay-as-you-go.

What happens if I go over my Frase limits?

Starter stops at its monthly limits until the cycle resets or you upgrade. On Professional and Scale you can turn on pay-as-you-go, which is off by default: $5 per extra article, $0.50 per audit page and $0.25 per AI prompt on Professional, or $4, $0.40 and $0.20 on Scale.

Which AI assistants does Frase track?

It depends on the plan. Starter tracks ChatGPT and Google AI, Professional adds Perplexity, and Scale adds Claude and Gemini.

Is Frase good for agencies?

Scale ($299/mo) is aimed at agencies: 5 seats, up to 10 domains, 100 articles a month and exportable client reports. Frase says white-label reports and a branded client portal need Enterprise, which is custom-priced.

Can I cancel or change my Frase plan?

Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and are prorated; downgrades apply at your next billing cycle. Yearly plans can be switched back to monthly. The pricing page doesn't state a refund policy, so ask Frase before buying a yearly plan.

Is Frase worth it?

It fits if you want one tool for briefs, AI drafts, optimization and AI citation tracking on a small site; Starter at $49/mo is the cheapest way in. We haven't tested Frase hands-on, so use the 7-day trial first. If you need deep keyword and backlink data, a suite like Semrush or SE Ranking covers that better.
