Tidio Alternatives (2026): 6 Options Compared by Price, AI and Channels

This page has no affiliate links right now: every link goes straight to the vendor. How we make money.

Tidio is a live chat and help desk tool for small businesses and online stores, with the Lyro AI agent sold as an add-on. It has a free plan, and Starter costs $24.17/mo billed yearly. Here are six Tidio alternatives, grouped by how your customers reach you and how you want to pay for AI.

The short answer

For email-first support, pick Help Scout. For an AI agent billed per answer, pick Intercom. Larger teams should look at Zendesk. For Instagram DMs, choose ManyChat. WhatsApp-heavy teams should compare respond.io and SleekFlow. For a low-cost website chat widget, Tidio is the cheapest option here.

Tidio pricing in brief

A live chat tool puts a chat box on your website so visitors can message you, and the replies land in a shared inbox. Tidio adds Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and email to that inbox on every plan, including Free. It charges by billable conversations: threads that a person on your team answered or started. Lyro AI and Flows replies don’t count toward that limit, but Lyro itself is a paid add-on.

From the Tidio pricing page (US, October 23, 2026). Monthly-billing prices were read with the page’s Monthly/Annually toggle on October 22, 2026. Starter, Growth, Lyro and Flows have a 7-day free trial.

Why people look for a Tidio alternative

  • Conversation caps. Starter covers 100 billable conversations a month. Growth starts at 250 and its price rises as you add more.
  • AI is an extra line on the bill. Lyro starts at $32.50/mo billed yearly for 50 AI conversations, on top of your plan.
  • A big step up. Plus starts at $300/mo plus usage, so growing teams compare it with per-seat help desks.
  • Different channel focus. Teams that live in Instagram DMs or WhatsApp often want a tool built around those apps instead of a website widget.

None of this makes Tidio a poor pick. For a small store that wants a website chat widget, social messages and an optional AI agent, it is one of the cheapest ways to start.

What 50 AI answers a month costs on each tool

AI pricing is where these tools differ most. This example assumes 3 people answering chats and about 50 AI-handled conversations a month, on the cheapest plan that includes an AI agent, billed yearly.

How we chose

We picked tools that cover at least one of Tidio’s main jobs: website chat, a shared inbox for social and messaging apps, or an AI agent that answers customers. All six are listed on our site with prices from their official pricing pages, checked October 22–23, 2026 from a US connection. We compared published prices, channels, pricing models and AI fees. We haven’t tested these tools hands-on yet, so we don’t claim any AI agent answers better than Lyro.

Other names that come up in searches, such as Crisp, LiveChat, HubSpot, Gorgias and WATI, aren’t covered here. Gorgias’s and WATI’s pricing pages didn’t show base plan prices when we checked.

Help Scout: best for email-first support with chat and social in one inbox

Help Scout homepage, captured Oct 22, 2026. The live site may look different.

Shared inbox and help desk for email, live chat, SMS and social messages, with a knowledge base, AI drafting help and the Envoy AI agent priced per resolution.

Starts at
$25/user/mo billed yearly ($30 billed monthly), Standard
You pay for
Users + AI resolutions
Free option
Free plan (5 users, 100 contacts/mo); 15-day trial

Compared with Tidio: Help Scout is a help desk first: a shared inbox for email, live chat, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger, plus a Docs knowledge base. Tidio is a chat widget first, with tickets added. Instead of counting conversations, Help Scout’s paid plans charge per user. Its AI Answers (Envoy) costs $0.75 per resolution, and the pricing page says new accounts get 3 months of unlimited AI resolutions free.

Who it’s for: Most customers email you, a few people share the inbox, and you want a help center next to it.

Skip it if: You are one person and mainly need a website chat widget. Tidio Starter covers 10 seats for $24.17/mo billed yearly.

Intercom: best for an AI agent in front of a full help desk

Helpdesk with a shared inbox, ticketing, Messenger live chat and help center, built around the Fin AI Agent, which is billed per successful outcome.

Starts at
$29/seat/mo billed annually, Essential (new customers were shown $19 on Oct 23, 2026)
You pay for
Seats + Fin AI outcomes
Free option
14-day trial; no free plan

Compared with Tidio: Intercom combines a Messenger chat widget, shared inbox, tickets and a help center, built around its Fin AI Agent. Fin costs $0.99 per outcome on every plan and isn’t charged if it hands the customer to a person. Tidio sells its Lyro AI as a monthly add-on with a fixed quota of AI conversations instead. Intercom lists WhatsApp, SMS and phone as pay-as-you-go extras.

Who it’s for: You want AI to take the first reply on most chats, and you prefer paying per successful answer to buying a quota.

Skip it if: You are a small shop on a tight budget. Seat fees plus Fin outcomes add up faster than Tidio Starter plus Lyro at low volume.

Zendesk: best for growing teams that need tickets and routing on every channel

Screenshot of the Zendesk homepage
Zendesk homepage, captured Oct 22, 2026. The live site may look different.

Customer service platform with ticketing, messaging, live chat, voice and a help center, plus AI agents that resolve common requests automatically.

Starts at
$55/agent/mo billed yearly ($69 billed monthly), Suite Team
You pay for
Agents + AI resolutions
Free option
14-day trial (Suite Professional)

Compared with Tidio: Zendesk Suite Team adds messaging, live chat, social channels and AI agents to its ticketing system. It includes 5 automated resolutions per agent a month; extra ones cost $2.00 each pay-as-you-go. The cheaper Support Team plan ($19/agent/mo billed yearly) is email ticketing only, so it isn’t a like-for-like swap for Tidio’s chat.

Who it’s for: Several agents answer on many channels and you need routing, SLAs and reporting that will scale.

Skip it if: You run a small store with one or two people on chat. A per-agent help desk costs more than you need.

ManyChat: best for instagram and Messenger DM automation

Starts at
$14/mo billed yearly ($168/yr), Essential
You pay for
Active contacts
Free option
Free plan (25 contacts); 14-day trial on Essential and Pro

Compared with Tidio: ManyChat automates replies to Instagram comments and DMs, Messenger, WhatsApp and other chat apps, with flows for lead capture and broadcasts. It doesn’t offer a website chat widget, which is where Tidio starts. AI conversations are included from Pro ($29/mo billed yearly, 2,500 contacts) rather than sold as an add-on.

Who it’s for: Most of your customer messages come from Instagram or Facebook, and you want to turn comments into DMs and leads.

Skip it if: Customers mainly reach you through your website or store chat. See our Tidio vs ManyChat comparison.

Compared with Tidio: respond.io is a team inbox for WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, email and calls. AI Agents, workflows and broadcasts start on Growth at $159/mo billed yearly ($199 monthly). Meta’s WhatsApp message fees are not included. Tidio includes WhatsApp on every plan too, but its focus is the website widget.

Who it’s for: A team handles a high volume of WhatsApp conversations and needs assignment, reports and AI in one shared inbox.

Skip it if: Most chats start on your website. A website chat widget isn’t listed on respond.io’s pricing page.

Compared with Tidio: SleekFlow’s Essential plan covers 500 monthly active contacts and 3 seats, with an AI inbox co-pilot. AI agents and broadcasts start on Pro at $109/mo billed yearly. WhatsApp number hosting is $15/mo plus message fees, and SleekFlow says pricing varies by location.

Who it’s for: You sell on several messaging apps, especially in Asia, and want catalogs and payment links inside chat.

Skip it if: You need email tickets or a help center; Help Scout or Zendesk fits that job better.

When to stay with Tidio

  • Your team answers fewer than about 100 chats a month, so Starter’s limit fits.
  • You need website chat plus Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp in one inbox for up to 10 people at a flat price.
  • You want to try an AI agent cheaply: the free plan includes 50 Lyro conversations once.

FAQ

What is better than Tidio?

No tool is better for everyone. Based on published plans checked October 23, 2026: Help Scout suits email-first teams, Intercom suits teams that want an AI agent billed per outcome, Zendesk suits larger multi-channel teams, ManyChat suits Instagram DM automation, and respond.io or SleekFlow suit WhatsApp-heavy teams. We haven’t tested these tools hands-on.

Is there a free alternative to Tidio?

Yes. Help Scout has a free plan for 5 users and 100 contacts a month, and ManyChat is free for 25 active contacts. Intercom, Zendesk, respond.io and SleekFlow have trials instead of free plans. Tidio itself has a free plan with 50 billable conversations and 10 seats.

Tidio vs Intercom: which is cheaper?

For a small team, Tidio usually costs less. Tidio Starter is $24.17/mo billed yearly for up to 10 seats, and Lyro starts at $32.50/mo for 50 AI conversations. Intercom Essential is $29 per seat a month billed annually ($19 for new customers when we checked), plus $0.99 per Fin outcome. Intercom’s price grows with every seat and AI answer.

Is Tidio’s Lyro AI worth it?

It depends on volume. Lyro starts at $32.50/mo billed yearly ($39 monthly) for 50 AI conversations, about $0.65 each at that tier. Help Scout charges $0.75 and Intercom $0.99 per resolved answer. Tidio’s free plan includes 50 Lyro conversations once, so you can see how it handles your questions before paying.

What is the best AI chatbot for a website?

For a website chat widget with an AI agent, the main options here are Tidio (Lyro), Intercom (Fin), Help Scout (AI Answers on its live chat) and Zendesk Suite (AI agents). Tidio is the cheapest to start. ManyChat, respond.io and SleekFlow focus on messaging apps rather than a website widget.

How much does Tidio cost?

Tidio has a free plan. Starter is $24.17/mo billed yearly ($29 monthly) for 100 billable conversations, Growth starts at $49.17/mo ($59 monthly) and rises with volume, and Plus starts at $300/mo plus usage. Lyro AI and Flows are add-ons. A billable conversation is one a person on your team answered.
