Zapier Alternatives (2026): Cheaper Ways to Automate Your Work

This page has no affiliate links right now: every link goes straight to the vendor. How we make money.

Zapier is a no-code automation tool: when something happens in one app, a “Zap” does something in another. It connects 9,000+ apps and bills by tasks, one for each successful action. The right Zapier alternative depends on why you want to leave: the task bill, AI agents, or data from websites.

The short answer

For the same kind of automations at a flat price, try Activepieces (free plan, Plus $20/mo). To build AI agents, pick MindStudio ($16/mo billed yearly, plus AI usage). For inbox and meeting work, try Lindy ($49.99/mo per user). To pull website data, use Browse AI.

Zapier pricing in brief

Zapier’s free plan includes 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps only. That means one trigger and one action. Professional starts at $19.99/mo billed yearly ($29.99 billed monthly) and unlocks multi-step Zaps, premium apps and webhooks.

Team starts at $69/mo billed yearly ($103.50 monthly) with 25 users and shared connections. These are starting prices for the smallest task tier. The task tiers on the page run from 100 up to 2 million tasks a month, and the price rises with each tier. AI agents and chatbots have their own separate plans.

Why people look for a Zapier alternative

  • Long Zaps eat tasks. Every successful action counts. A trigger plus four actions that runs 500 times a month uses 2,000 tasks.
  • The free plan is small. 100 tasks and two-step Zaps are enough to try Zapier, not to run a business on it.
  • You want AI to do the work, not just move data. Agent tools let you describe a job instead of mapping every step.
  • You want to self-host. Activepieces and n8n can both run on your own servers.

None of this makes Zapier a poor choice. It has the biggest app catalog here, and simple Zaps stay cheap.

How each tool counts your usage

The plan price is only half the story. What really sets your bill is the unit each tool counts. A task, a credit and an execution are not the same thing.

ToolUnitWhat countsFree allowance
ZapierTaskEach successful action in a Zap. Triggers, failed steps and built-in tools like Filter and Formatter don’t count.100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
ActivepiecesCredit1 credit per run, however many steps. AI steps add 2, 10 or 20 credits.1,000 credits a month
n8nExecutionOne full workflow run, “regardless of complexity”.No free cloud plan listed; a self-hosted Community edition is on GitHub
MindStudioRun + AI tokensRuns are unlimited on paid plans; AI model use is billed per token at provider cost.1 agent, 1,000 runs a month
LindyCredit5,000 credits per user a month on Team; top-ups $10 per 1,000.$50 in credits for 7 days
Browse AICreditCredits per robot run; monthly and yearly plans include different amounts.50 credits a month

A worked example. Take one workflow with a trigger and four actions that runs 500 times a month, with no AI steps. On Zapier that is 2,000 tasks, so you’d need a paid tier of at least 2,000 tasks a month. On Activepieces it is 500 credits, which fits the free plan’s 1,000. On n8n it is 500 executions, within Starter’s 2,500. Add AI steps and Activepieces charges extra credits for each one.

How we chose

We picked tools that replace Zapier for a common job and read each pricing page on October 12, 2026. We compared published prices, free plans and how each tool counts usage. We haven’t tested these tools hands-on yet, so we don’t rank them on reliability, speed or support.

Make is another name that comes up often. We haven’t verified its plans yet, so it isn’t covered here.

Activepieces: best for zapier-style automations at a flat price

Screenshot of the Activepieces homepage
Activepieces homepage, captured Oct 12, 2026. The live site may look different.

Open-source automation platform (MIT-licensed core) for building AI agents and multi-step flows across 760+ app connectors, in the cloud or self-hosted.

Starts at
$20/mo Plus, flat per workspace
Free option
Free plan: 1,000 credits a month, up to 5 users

Compared with Zapier: Activepieces works like Zapier: a trigger starts a flow, then steps move data between your apps. The big difference is billing. Activepieces charges 1 credit per run, however many steps the flow has, while Zapier counts every successful action as a task. AI steps cost 2 to 20 extra credits depending on the model. The core is open source (MIT license), so you can also run it on your own server.

Who it’s for: Your Zaps have many steps, your task bill keeps growing, or your team wants the option to self-host.

Skip it if: You rely on a niche app that only Zapier connects to. Activepieces lists 760+ connectors (it calls them “pieces”), plus an HTTP step for any API, which is fewer than Zapier’s catalog.

MindStudio: best for people who want to build AI agents and AI apps without code

Screenshot of the MindStudio homepage
MindStudio homepage, captured Oct 12, 2026. The live site may look different.

No-code builder for AI agents and AI apps, with 200+ AI models billed at provider cost, 1,000+ integrations, and deployment as web apps, browser extensions or APIs.

Starts at
$16/mo Individual, billed yearly ($20 billed monthly), plus AI usage
Free option
Free plan: 1 agent, 1,000 runs a month

Compared with Zapier: MindStudio is less about moving data between apps and more about building an AI tool. You lay out an agent’s steps, choose from 200+ AI models and publish it as a web app, a browser button, an email-triggered agent or an API. AI usage is billed per token on top of the plan; MindStudio says it adds no markup to what the model provider charges.

Who it’s for: Your automations are mostly AI work, such as summarizing, drafting or classifying, and you want a custom tool your team can open and use.

Skip it if: You mainly sync records between apps with no AI involved. A flow tool like Activepieces is a closer fit, and you avoid separate token costs.

Lindy: best for teams that want an assistant to handle email, meetings and briefs

Screenshot of the Lindy homepage
Lindy homepage, captured Oct 12, 2026. The live site may look different.

AI assistant for teams that connects to Gmail, Slack, CRMs and 1,500+ other apps to draft email, take meeting notes, send daily briefs and run recurring tasks.

Starts at
$49.99/mo Team, per active user
Free option
7-day trial with $50 in credits, no card

Compared with Zapier: Lindy replaces some Zaps with an AI assistant you talk to in Slack, email or iMessage. It connects to Gmail, your calendar, Slack, CRMs and, per its homepage, 1,500+ more apps, then drafts replies, takes meeting notes and runs routines like a daily brief. It costs more than Zapier Professional and bills every active user, but it is built for judgment-style work rather than fixed if-this-then-that steps.

Who it’s for: Most of what you automate is inbox, calendar and meeting work, and you’d rather describe the job in plain words than map out steps.

Skip it if: You need predictable, rule-based syncs between apps. On October 12, 2026 Lindy’s page metadata still said “starts at $29.99” while its plans table and FAQ said $49.99, so check before you buy.

Browse AI: best for getting data from websites into a spreadsheet or app

Screenshot of the Browse AI homepage
Browse AI homepage, captured Oct 12, 2026. The live site may look different.

No-code web scraping and monitoring tool: train a 'robot' by pointing and clicking, then pull or watch a website's data on a schedule and send it to Google Sheets, Airtable, Zapier or an API.

Starts at
$19/mo Personal, billed yearly ($48 billed monthly)
Free option
Free plan: 50 credits a month, 2 websites

Compared with Zapier: Browse AI covers a job Zapier can’t do well on its own: reading data from websites that have no app connection. You point it at a page, approve the columns it suggests, and a “robot” pulls or watches that data on a schedule. It then sends results to Google Sheets, Airtable, an API or even Zapier and Make. Yearly and monthly plans include different credit amounts, so compare the credits, not just the price.

Who it’s for: You used Zapier mainly to get prices, listings or leads from websites into a sheet.

Skip it if: Your data already lives in apps with connectors. You don’t need a scraper for that.

n8n: best for technical teams that want to self-host

n8n is a workflow automation tool you can use in its cloud or run on your own servers. It bills by workflow executions: one full run counts once, “regardless of complexity”.

Starts at
€20/mo Starter, billed yearly, for 2,500 executions a month
Free option
A self-hosted Community edition is available on GitHub

Compared with Zapier: n8n counts whole runs, so long workflows cost far less than on a per-action plan. Pro is €50/mo billed yearly for 10,000 executions. The Business plan (€667/mo billed yearly) is self-hosted only.

Who it’s for: Teams with someone technical who wants full control and possibly their own servers.

Skip it if: You need prices in US dollars or month-to-month billing. On October 12, 2026 the pricing page, even viewed from the US, showed euro prices billed yearly only. We haven’t added n8n to our directory for that reason.

When to stay on Zapier

  • You use niche apps. Zapier lists 9,000+ app integrations, more than any tool here.
  • Your Zaps are short. A trigger plus one action uses one task per run, so the task model costs little.
  • Your team already knows it. Switching means rebuilding and re-testing every automation.
