Wix vs Hostinger Website Builder (2026): Real Cost, Features and Which to Pick

This page has no affiliate links right now: every link goes straight to the vendor. How we make money.

Wix vs Hostinger is mostly a question of how you want to pay. Both are website builders: tools that let you make a site by dragging blocks around instead of writing code, with hosting included. Wix has a free plan and charges yearly. Hostinger has no free plan but a very low price if you pay for 4 years at once.

The short answer

Choose Hostinger Website Builder for the lowest cost: $2.99/mo if you prepay 48 months ($143.52), renewing at $10.99/mo.

Choose Wix to start free, get more templates and grow into a store. Paid plans start at $17.77/mo, billed yearly.

Wix vs Hostinger pricing: intro price vs renewal

The headline prices are not measured the same way, so compare what you actually pay.

  • Hostinger’s $2.99/mo is for the Premium plan on a 48-month term. You pay $143.52 upfront. When the term ends, Premium renews at $10.99/mo. Hostinger’s builder page lists only 48-month prices, so we can’t tell you what shorter terms cost.
  • Wix’s $17.77/mo is for the Light plan, billed yearly and paid in full: $213.24 a year. Wix says other billing periods exist, but its plans page doesn’t show their prices. Wix also says prices and currency vary by location, and the USD prices are for reference.
Cheapest paid planWix LightHostinger Premium
Upfront payment$213.24 (1 year of Light)$143.52 (48 months of Premium)
Total for years 1–4$852.96 at today’s Light price$143.52
Each year after that$213.24 if the price stays the same$131.88 at the $10.99/mo renewal rate

Even after renewal, Hostinger Premium stays cheaper than Wix Light at today’s listed prices. The catch is the 4-year commitment. Hostinger’s 30-day money-back guarantee gives you a month to change your mind; Wix gives you 14 days on your first paid plan.

Hostinger also bundles extras into every plan: mailboxes (a name@yourdomain email inbox) free for the first year, and up to 3 sites on Premium. Wix’s plans page doesn’t list email inboxes in its plans.

Ease of use and the AI builders

An AI website builder writes a first draft of your site from a short description of your business. You then edit the pages yourself. Both tools do this.

Wix lets you build with AI on the free plan, with no credit card. After the AI draft, you can edit by hand or ask Aria, Wix’s AI agent in the editor, to change pages and sections for you. Wix also lists an AI text creator, an AI image creator and a background remover.

Hostinger has two modes. Manual mode pairs the AI draft with a drag-and-drop editor. Agentic mode is a chat: you describe changes and the AI makes them. It also lists an AI writer for blog posts and product descriptions and an AI logo generator. Plans come with a one-time gift of AI credits (5 on Premium, 15 on higher plans).

We haven’t built a site in either tool yet, so we can’t say whose AI draft is better. Both let you try before paying: Wix on its free plan, Hostinger on its free trial.

Templates, design freedom and SEO

Wix lists 2,000+ templates. Hostinger’s plans page lists 400+. If you want a starting design that already looks close to your idea, Wix gives you far more to choose from.

For SEO (the work of helping Google find and rank your pages), both include AI helpers. Wix lists an AI meta tag creator and an SEO Assistant with checklists. Hostinger lists an AI SEO assistant for page titles, descriptions and keywords. Neither tool will rank a site on its own; useful content does most of the work. Our AI SEO tools guide covers tools built for that job.

eCommerce and business features

Wix: the Light plan can’t accept online payments. Selling starts on Core at $29.77/mo billed yearly, with basic eCommerce. Business ($39.77/mo) adds standard eCommerce, and Business Elite ($159.77/mo) adds advanced eCommerce.

Hostinger: eCommerce is listed on Unlimited ($3.99/mo on a 48-month term, renews at $16.99/mo) and Cloud Startup ($7.99/mo on a 48-month term, renews at $25.99/mo). Hostinger advertises 0% transaction fees from its side and 100+ payment methods. Premium doesn’t list eCommerce among its features.

If selling is your main goal, compare Wix Core with Hostinger Unlimited. Hostinger costs less upfront; Wix gives you a larger template library and more plan tiers to grow into.

How we compared them

We read Wix’s and Hostinger’s plans pages, AI builder pages and help articles on October 16, 2026 and used US reference prices. We haven’t built a site with either tool yet, so this page compares prices, plan limits and listed features, not speed or design quality. Where the two vendors’ own pages disagree, such as the length of Hostinger’s trial, we say so.

FAQ

Is Hostinger better than Wix?

Hostinger is better if price is your main worry and you can pay for 4 years upfront: Premium costs $143.52 for 48 months. Wix is better if you want a free plan, more templates and room to grow into a bigger online store. Neither is better for everyone.

Is Hostinger cheaper than Wix after renewal?

Yes, at the prices listed on October 16, 2026. Hostinger Premium renews at $10.99/mo, which is $131.88 a year. Wix Light costs $17.77/mo billed yearly, or $213.24 a year. Hostinger’s jump from $2.99 to $10.99 is large, but it still ends up below Wix Light.

Does Hostinger Website Builder have a free plan?

No. Hostinger has a free trial instead. Its plans page says the trial lasts 14 days, while a Hostinger help article on the AI builder says 7 days. Either way, you can’t publish a site during the trial. There is also a 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans.

Which is better for a small business website, Wix or Hostinger?

For a simple site with a few pages and a contact form, Hostinger Premium covers it for less. If you plan to take bookings, sell products or grow the site over time, Wix gives you more templates and business tools, but selling online starts on Core at $29.77/mo billed yearly.

Can I use my own domain on the Wix free plan?

No. Wix’s help center says connecting a custom domain requires upgrading to a paid plan. Free sites use an address like yourname.wixsite.com. Paid yearly plans include a voucher for a free domain for the first year.
