Wix Alternatives (2026): 7 Picks by Budget and What You Need

This page has no affiliate links right now: every link goes straight to the vendor. If that changes, we’ll say so here. How we make money.

Wix is a drag-and-drop website builder with a free plan and an AI builder that drafts a site from a text description. Paid plans start at $17.77/mo for Light, billed yearly. The best Wix alternative depends on why you’re leaving: price, design control, not wanting to build at all, or only needing a portfolio or landing pages.

The short answer

For the lowest price, pick Hostinger ($2.99/mo on a 48-month term). For more design control, try Framer ($10/mo) or Webflow. Service businesses should look at Durable, owners who want it built for them at UENI, photographers at Format.

Wix pricing in brief

Wix has a free plan with no time limit. Free sites use a wixsite.com address and show Wix ads. Paid plans, billed yearly, are Light ($17.77/mo), Core ($29.77/mo), Business ($39.77/mo) and Business Elite ($159.77/mo). Accepting online payments starts on Core.

Wix shows US prices “for reference only” and says prices and currency vary by location. It offers a 14-day money-back guarantee on a new paid plan, and the plans page doesn’t list monthly-billed prices.

Why people look for a Wix alternative

  • The price. Light costs $213.24 for the first year, and it can’t take online payments. Selling starts on Core at $29.77/mo billed yearly.
  • You can’t switch templates. Wix’s Help Center says it isn’t possible to switch to a different template for a site you already created. To redesign, you start a new site and copy content over.
  • Hard to leave later. Wix says you can’t back up a site outside Wix or export blog posts to other platforms. Moving means rebuilding.
  • Design limits. Wix is built around templates you edit. Framer and Webflow give you finer control over every element.

None of this makes Wix a bad choice. It’s easy to start, has a free plan and covers most small business needs in one place. The question is what matters most to you now.

Before tax, add-ons and domain fees. Framer bills its listed price by the cycle you pick at checkout. Hostinger Premium renews at $10.99/mo after the term. UENI’s $79 setup fee is a limited-time offer (normally $599). Wix shows US prices for reference only.

Two things stand out. Hostinger is far cheaper, but only if you prepay four years. Framer and Format cost about half of Wix Light in year one, though both are narrower tools.

How we chose

We picked builders that replace Wix for a common reason to switch and read each pricing page on October 16, 2026. We compared published prices, free plans, trials and plan limits only. We haven’t tested these builders hands-on yet, so we don’t rank them on design quality, speed or support.

Other names that often come up, such as Squarespace, WordPress.com, Shopify and Square Online, aren’t covered here because we haven’t verified their plans yet.

Hostinger Website Builder: best for the lowest price, if you can prepay

Screenshot of the Hostinger Website Builder homepage
Hostinger Website Builder homepage, captured Oct 10, 2026. The live site may look different.

Website builder sold alongside Hostinger hosting, with an AI builder that generates a starting site.

Starts at
$2.99/mo Premium, 48-month term paid upfront
Free option
No free plan; 14-day free trial, 30-day money-back guarantee

Compared with Wix: Hostinger bundles a drag-and-drop builder, an AI site generator, hosting, plus a free domain and 2 mailboxes per site for the first year. The catch is the term: $2.99/mo means paying $143.52 upfront for 48 months, and Premium renews at $10.99/mo. Selling online starts on Unlimited ($3.99/mo on the same 48-month term, renews at $16.99/mo). Wix Light is $17.77/mo billed yearly and can’t take online payments.

Who it’s for: You want a simple site for a small business, blog or side project at the lowest cost, and you’re fine paying for four years at once.

Skip it if: You don’t want to prepay for years, or you need the deep app market and business tools Wix has built up.

Framer: best for designers who want more control than Wix

Screenshot of the Framer homepage
Framer homepage, captured Oct 10, 2026. The live site may look different.

Design-focused website builder for publishing responsive sites without writing code.

Starts at
$10/mo Basic, per site
Free option
Free plan: Framer address, no custom domain, 1 GB bandwidth

Compared with Wix: Framer is a visual builder that feels closer to a design tool than to Wix’s template editor. Basic is $10/mo per site with a custom domain, 30 pages, 1,000 CMS items (a CMS stores blog posts and other repeating content) and 50 GB bandwidth. Framer says the rate depends on the billing cycle you pick at checkout. Extra editors cost $20/mo each.

Who it’s for: You design your own landing pages, portfolio or startup site and want fine control over layout and animation.

Skip it if: You want an online store, bookings or a big app market. Framer’s pricing page lists site plans only, and Basic stops at 30 pages.

Free option
Free Starter plan: webflow.io address, 2 static pages

Compared with Wix: Webflow gives you control over every layout box and style, closer to how web developers work. Basic ($15/mo billed yearly) adds your own domain but no CMS. The CMS starts on Premium at $25/mo billed yearly, with up to 20,000 items. Ecommerce plans start at $29/mo billed yearly. You pay per site.

Who it’s for: You’re a designer or work with one, and you want a fast, custom marketing site or blog you can grow for years.

Skip it if: You want to be online this week without learning layout concepts. Webflow takes longer to learn than Wix.

AI website builder aimed at small businesses that drafts a site from a few questions.

Starts at
$25/mo Launch, billed monthly
Free option

Launch is $25/mo billed monthly with 1,000 AI credits a month, and lets you connect a domain or register one free (up to a $20 value). Durable advertises yearly billing as 15% cheaper but doesn’t list the yearly price. On October 16, 2026 its comparison table showed $22/mo for Launch without saying which billing period that is.

Who it’s for: You run a local service, like cleaning, coaching or repairs, and want a decent site plus bookings without touching a design tool.

Skip it if: You want hands-on design control, a large blog or an online store.

Free option
No free plan; 30-day money-back guarantee

Compared with Wix: UENI isn’t a builder you use yourself. Its team designs and builds the site for you, with a custom domain and SSL included. Website Launch is $24.99/mo billed monthly or $249.90 a year, plus a one-time setup fee shown as $79 in a limited-time offer (normally $599). Launch includes 30 days of done-for-you edits; Plus ($59/mo) adds unlimited edits and manages your Google Business Profile.

Who it’s for: You’ve tried Wix and don’t have time to build or update the site yourself.

Skip it if: You like making changes yourself, or the setup fee is more than you want to spend upfront.

Starts at
$29/mo Pro, billed monthly
Free option
No free plan; 7-day free trial, card required

Compared with Wix: Leadpages builds landing pages, not full websites. Its AI drafts a page from a description of your offer. Pro is $29/mo billed monthly for 25 pages, 1 site and 1 custom domain. A/B testing (showing two versions of a page to see which gets more sign-ups) starts on Grow at $99/mo. Leadpages says annual billing saves 20% but doesn’t list annual prices.

Who it’s for: You use Wix mainly for sign-up or sales pages for ads, webinars or an email list.

Skip it if: You need a full website with a blog, store or many pages. Wix or Hostinger covers more for less.

Free Wix alternatives: what you really get

“Free” rarely includes your own domain. Read the limits before you build on one.

  • Wix Free: a wixsite.com address and Wix ads on your site.
  • Framer Free: no custom domain, 1 GB bandwidth and 500 AI credits to try.
  • Webflow Starter: a webflow.io address, 2 static pages and 1 GB bandwidth a month.
  • Durable Free: a durable.site address, 300 AI credits in total and up to 10 customers in the CRM.
  • Hostinger and Format: no free plan, but a 14-day free trial each.
  • Leadpages: a 7-day free trial; a card is required at sign-up.

Free plans are fine for testing a builder. For a business site on your own domain, plan on a paid tier.

Before you move off Wix

  1. Plan to rebuild. Wix says you can’t back up your site outside Wix or export blog posts to other platforms. Save your text and images and recreate the pages on the new builder.
  2. Check your domain. A domain bought through Wix can be transferred to another host, but not within 60 days of purchase or of a previous transfer. Your Wix site disconnects once the transfer completes.
  3. Keep your email working. If you use business email on the domain, Wix notes you’ll need to re-add its MX records at the new host.
  4. Protect your rankings. Keep the same page addresses where you can, and set up 301 redirects (permanent forwards from old URLs to new ones) for any that change.

When Wix is still the right pick

  • You want to start free, with no time limit, and upgrade later.
  • You want an AI builder plus a drag-and-drop editor without a multi-year prepay. Wix’s listed prices are for one year paid upfront.
  • You need payments, ecommerce and business tools in one place. Core and above can accept payments.

FAQ

What is better than Wix?

It depends on why you’re leaving. For a lower price, Hostinger Website Builder starts at $2.99/mo on a 48-month term. For more design control, look at Framer ($10/mo) or Webflow ($15/mo billed yearly). If you don’t want to build at all, UENI builds the site for you.

What is the cheapest alternative to Wix?

Of the builders we checked, Hostinger has the lowest price: $2.99/mo on Premium, paid as $143.52 upfront for 48 months, then $10.99/mo on renewal. Without a long prepay, Framer Basic ($10/mo) and Format Basic ($10/mo billed yearly) cost less than Wix Light ($17.77/mo billed yearly). Prices checked October 16, 2026.

Is Hostinger better than Wix?

Hostinger is cheaper upfront and bundles hosting, a domain and mailboxes for the first year, but its low price needs a 48-month prepay. Wix has a free plan, lists its prices for one year paid upfront, and includes payments and ecommerce on Core and higher. If price comes first, Hostinger; if features come first, Wix.

Is there a free alternative to Wix?

Framer, Webflow and Durable all have free plans, like Wix. None of them lets you use your own domain for free: you get a Framer, webflow.io or durable.site address. Hostinger and Format offer 14-day trials instead, and Leadpages a 7-day trial with a card required.

Can I move my Wix site to another builder?

Not automatically. Wix’s Help Center says it isn’t possible to back up a site outside Wix or export blog posts to other platforms, so you rebuild the site on the new builder. A domain bought through Wix can be transferred to another host, except within 60 days of purchase or of a previous transfer.
